My favorite moment though was what the newly adopted son said to his mom, “This is just a piece of paper. You have always been my mom!”

As I settle in, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness, encouragement, and support so many of you have shown me. Thank you for celebrating this new chapter with me.

But today, I want to travel back in time—to the adoption that started it all. Not the first adoption I handled as an attorney. The first adoption that changed my life.

More than 36 years ago, my parents traveled halfway around the world in search of me. They brought me home, and in doing so, they forever changed the trajectory of my life.

That moment is the reason adoption isn’t just what I do—it is who I am.

I am profoundly grateful for my biological parents, who made an incredibly difficult decision out of love and hope for a better future for me. Their courage gave me a chance at a life I could never have imagined.

I am equally grateful for the parents who raised me. They celebrated adoption. They were honest and transparent about my story. They gave me unconditional love, a strong foundation, and the confidence to become the woman—and the adoption attorney—I am today.

Every adoption has a beginning. Mine began with this photograph.

So when you walk into my office, you’ll certainly see pictures of the many beautiful families I have had the privilege of helping create. But you will also see this picture—the one that reminds me where it all started.

Because before I ever had the honor of helping build families, I was blessed to become part of one.

And that is why adoption will always be more than my profession.

It is my story. ❤️

As I officially open the doors to my expanded law office, this wall may look empty today—but to me, it’s full of hope.

The sign that hangs here says it all: “Building Families, Changing Lives.” Those words have been at the heart of my practice from the very beginning.

My greatest hope is that this wall won’t stay blank for long. I look forward to filling it with photographs of the incredible families I’ve had the privilege of serving through adoption—each picture representing a story of love, perseverance, and a child finding a forever family.

Every adoption reminds me why I chose this work. It’s an honor to walk alongside birth parents, adoptive families, and children as their lives are forever changed.

As this office grows, I pray it continues to be a place where families begin, hope is restored, and lives are transformed.

Thank you to our community for believing in the beauty of adoption and for supporting families every step of the way. Your encouragement means more than you know, and I can’t wait to see this wall filled with the faces of the families we’ve built together.

ATTENTION ADOPTIVE FAMILIES: Adoption financial aid is available for you! This is but one resource available to you. The vast majority of my families who apply for grants receive grant awards!

We founded Show Hope more than 23 years ago to support families, just like the Randalls—families who longed to adopt but faced quite the financial barrier. Today, that support ranges between $8,000 and $12,000, and as of this month, nearly 10,000 children have been impacted by a Show Hope Adoption Aid grant.

If you’re longing to adopt, we’d been honored to be a part of your journey. Show Hope’s current Adoption Aid application period is open through June 30, so there is time to apply!
