Your insurance company has adjusters, engineers, and lawyers working on your Hurricane Isaias claim. Now you do too.

In the weeks since Isaias made landfall, families and businesses across the Gulf Coast are still cleaning up, and many are now in a second fight to get their insurer to pay what the policy promises. At Townsend Law, LLC, we represent policyholders, never insurance companies. It is what we do, and it makes up our entire practice.

📍 Alabama residents: If your home, business, church, or condominium was damaged by Isaias, give us a call. We handle your claim and work with reputable damage consultants and experts to document your loss fully.

📍 Florida residents: Your first step should be hiring a reputable, state-licensed public adjuster. A good public adjuster will document your damage thoroughly and present your claim the right way from day one. We’re proud to work alongside reputable and licensed public adjusting firms.

If your claim is still delayed, denied, or stalled, call us. We work hand in hand with your public adjuster and step in when the insurer won’t pay what it owes. If you would like us to provide recommendations on reputable public adjusters, please let us know.

No matter where you are:

✔️ Report your claim promptly and as soon as possible.
✔️ Photograph and video everything before repairs begin, including damaged contents.
✔️ Save every receipt, including for temporary repairs and living expenses.

We are winding down day three of storm response and recovery operations, and we remain focused on public safety, clearing debris, and restoring critical infrastructure and services.

Here is the latest:

FPL/POWER: Florida Power & Light crews are working to have 95 percent of customers who can safely accept power to be restored service by the end of the day on Monday, Oct. 12. They are aware of a lag time between when service is restored and when the outage map on their website may update.

ECUA/WATER: ECUA’s systemwide boil water notice remains in effect for ALL customers. Do not drink or cook with tap water until further notice. Tap water may be used to shower and wash clothes. Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or preparing food. Allow the water to cool before use.

SANITATION: If your garbage OR recycling day is Friday or Monday PUT YOUR CAN OUT TONIGHT! Our crews will work as late as needed on Monday to collect Friday and Monday routes. Contents will not be recycled and city crews will NOT collect yard waste/storm debris.

DEBRIS: The City’s storm debris contractor will collect storm debris beginning early this week. Separate vegetative debris from building materials, drywall, lumber, carpet, furniture, plumbing. DO NOT BAG YOUR STORM DEBRIS. Place the debris curbside in the public right-of-way, away from roadways, to keep traffic flowing safely.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS: Treat intersections without power as a four-way stop.

GENERATOR SAFETY: Generators must be well ventilated. Do not use them inside your home or garage. Remember 20/20 rule! 20 feet away from opening to house (doors/windows), wait 20 minutes to cool before refueling.

ROAD CLOSURES: Check the status of roads in the City at https://www.cityofpensacola.com/3597/Road-Closures

View County and State road information at MyEscambia.com/roads or fl511.com.

AIRPORT: Pensacola International Airport is open. Check with your airlines regarding the status of flights.

PORT OF PENSACOLA: Cleared by the U.S. Coast Guard and returning to normal operations.

311: Pensacola 311 phone lines are down. For nonemergency issues, including road debris and downed trees, please use the portal or chat on the city website or email [email protected].

PARKS AND RECREATION: Do not place yard waste and debris in parks. Please stay out of parks until they have been assessed and deemed safe for public use.

Resource Centers: All community centers and programming are canceled for Monday, Oct. 12 to allow time for power, potable water, and network services to be restored.

Gull Point Resource Center and Park sustained major damage during the storm. Alternate program locations to be determined.

Osceola Golf Course also sustained major damage during the storm and will remain closed for play over the next several days.

CITY OFFICES: City offices will remain closed on Monday, Oct. 12, with the goal of reopening Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Yep. It's that time of the year again. More cheesy social media posts about what we do. But honestly, it's worth repeating.

We’ve spent years in the insurance world, so we know how to make insurance companies actually honor the policies they wrote. If a storm, fire, or other disaster damages your property, you’re entitled to the benefits you’ve paid for … not excuses.

If your insurance company isn’t treating you fairly, we can help. We don’t just negotiate, we litigate when necessary to ensure you get the coverage you deserve. Because at Townsend Law, we don’t negotiate with excuses, we deliver results.

LEVEL 5 (OUT OF 5) HIGH RISK FOR PARTS OF ALABAMA & MISSISSIPPI; REGIONAL TORNADO OUTBREAK EXPECTED… The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded parts of Alabama and Mississippi into their Level 5 (out of 5) HIGH RISK severe weather zone valid for Saturday, March 15 into Saturday night. This is only the third time since 2007 that part of our local area in southwest Alabama has had a Level 5 (out of 5) risk zone. The other two times happened in early 2021. Before that, it was the high risk day in March 2007 that produced the Enterprise, AL EF4 tornado that hit Enterprise High School. Parts of Clarke, Washington, and Wilcox counties, along with areas to the north near Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Livingston are now involved in the HIGH risk zone.

WE ALL HAVE A RISK - IT ISN'T *JUST* THE LEVEL 5 RISK... Please do not think that if you're not included in the magenta/rare Level 5 (out of 5) risk that you're "out of the woods." That is not how this works, at all. The high risk is where the *greatest* potential exists for long track, violent tornadoes. This is a helpful reminder not to get TOO caught up in the specific risk level or color zone in the convective outlooks. While the risk of tornadoes IS higher in the higher risk zones, tornadoes can and do happen OUTSIDE of the highest risk zones with severe weather setups like what is expected on Saturday. Regardless of which color/risk level your specific community is involved with, it is critical that you are able to get warnings overnight, tomorrow, and into tomorrow night!

BE THE HERO... The National Weather Service has launched an awareness campaign entitled, "Be The Hero." The truth is you can absolutely be a hero and inform those folks around you that pay no attention to the world of weather. I guarantee you (sadly) there are folks all around that have heard nothing about this severe weather threat setting up for Saturday. The way we combat that is to "be the hero" and let your friends and family know about this risk. Call them, text them, tag them, pass it along to them, I really don't care HOW you tell your folks as long as we make as many folks aware of this risk as possible.

TORNADO WARNING POLICY… Any time there is an active tornado warning in effect for southwest Alabama or northwest Florida, we provide uninterrupted, live video coverage on Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and in the Live tab of the RedZone Weather app. Our detailed coverage commitment is outlined at redzoneweather.com/coverage. We are proud to cover all parts of Escambia (AL), Covington, Monroe, Conecuh, Baldwin, Mobile, Clarke, Washington, Butler, Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties. If you live in any locale in those counties, be sure to tune into our coverage whenever there is an active tornado warning!

SET UP APP ALERTS… We send quite a bit of Low-Level Alerts in our RedZone Weather app. The app is totally free for you! redzoneweather.com/app is the link where you see the download links to your respective app store for iOS and for Android devices. Once you have the app downloaded to your smartphone or tablet device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.

NEXT UPDATE... I will have updates posted throughout the afternoon, as needed, in the RedZone Weather app. My next detailed discussion will be posted this evening.
