SAVE THE DATE! Please join us May 19th, 2026, for La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano's 23rd Annual High School Scholarship Dinner. Our Keynote Speaker this year is the Honorable Wendy R. Casas, Solano County Superior Court Judge. For 23 years, LRLAS has recognized graduating Latino Solano County public school seniors going onto higher education. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, promise of achievement, community service/work experience and financial need. The scholarship program is designed to provide our professional encouragement and public recognition to high school seniors of Latino heritage entering higher education. The scholarship is awarded irrespective of immigration status. The Association has previously awarded approximately 132 individual scholarships, amounting to approximately $93,000.00. Your contribution and donation to LRLAS’s annual High School Scholarship enables us to award scholarships to incredibly deserving students going onto higher education.

The scholarship application is open to all seniors of Latino/Hispanic ancestry graduating from any Solano County public high school. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, promise of achievement, community service/work experience and financial need. The scholarship program is designed to provide our professional encouragement and public recognition to high school seniors of Latino/Hispanic heritage entering higher education. KEYNOTE SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT: Luis Céspedes, Judicial Appointments Secretary, Office of Governor Gavin Newsom.

We are excited to announce our distinguished Keynote Speaker this year is Luis Céspedes, Judicial Appointments Secretary, Office of Governor Gavin Newsom.

Luis Céspedes is a change maker who is deeply committed to improving access to justice!

On December 10, 2020, Luis Céspedes was sworn in as Governor Gavin Newsom’s Judicial Appointments Secretary. Secretary Céspedes was born in Santa Maria, California and at the age of 15, went on strike with the United Farm Workers during their early struggle for better wages and working conditions for farmworkers. He earned a scholarship to Occidental College in Los Angeles, receiving both his B.A. and M.A. degrees. Prior to attending U.C. Berkeley School of Law, Secretary Céspedes participated in the prestigious CORO Foundation Fellowship Program which provides unique training in public affairs. Secretary Céspedes has served as Administrative Assistant and Co-Chief of Staff to former Assemblymember Vic Fazio, Principal Consultant to the Assembly Health Committee and Senior Consultant to the Assembly Office of Majority Consultants under the leadership of the late Speaker Leo McCarthy. Secretary Céspedes was in private practice since 1982, as a solo practitioner and partner with Céspedes, Namba & Nakagawa in Sacramento. He has served the Sacramento County Superior Court as a Pro Tem Settlement Conference Judge, Pro Tem Juvenile Court Referee, and court appointed judicial arbitrator.

In 1987, Secretary Céspedes co-founded the renowned Unity Bar Association of Sacramento. He was named “Distinguished Attorney of the Year” in 2018 by the Sacramento County Bar Association and was included in the Daily Journal’s roster of “Top 100 Lawyers” in 2021. He has served on numerous boards and commissions, including as commissioner and chair of the Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Commission, a joint city/county agency focusing on providing housing for very low and moderate income families.

La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano (LRLAS) has been in existence for the past 25 years. This year, we are announcing our 22nd annual high school scholarship awards dinner, where we will be awarding multiple scholarships of $1,000.00 each. The scholarship application is open to all seniors of Latino/Hispanic ancestry graduating from any Solano County public high school. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, promise of achievement, community service/work experience and financial need. The scholarship program is designed to provide our professional encouragement and public recognition to high school seniors of Latino/Hispanic heritage entering higher education. The scholarship is awarded irrespective of immigration status. The Association has previously awarded approximately 124 individual scholarships, amounting to approximately $85,000.00. Your contribution and donation to La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano’s (LRLAS) annual High School Scholarship enables us to award scholarships to incredibly deserving Solano County Latino High School students going onto higher education. We truly could not do this without your support. Please support this wonderful scholarship and our amazing students.

La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano (LRLAS) is proud to announce its 21st Annual High School Scholarship Application. The scholarship application is open to all seniors of Latino/Hispanic ancestry graduating from any Solano County public high school.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, promise of achievement, community service/work experience and financial need. The scholarship program is designed to provide our professional encouragement and public recognition to high school seniors of Latino/Hispanic heritage entering higher education. The scholarship is awarded irrespective of immigration status.

In the past 24 years, the Association has awarded approximately 116 individual scholarships, amounting to $74,000.00. This year, we will be awarding multiple scholarships of $1,000.00 each.

Please spread the word! We are excited to continue to recognize the amazing students in our community and support them in their pursuit of higher education.

Your contribution and donation to La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano (LRLAS)’s annual High School Scholarship enables us to award scholarships to incredibly deserving Solano County Latino High School students going onto higher education. We truly could not do this without your support. This year we are hosting the 20th year high school scholarship award dinner and hope to award multiple scholarships of $1,000.00. We hope you will consider sponsoring our scholarship dinner as your contribution enables us to recognize and provide financial assistance to truly deserving students going on to higher education.

The scholarship application is open to all seniors of Latino/Hispanic ancestry graduating from any Solano County public high school, including continuation schools. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, promise of achievement, community service/work experience and financial need. The scholarship program is designed to provide our professional encouragement and public recognition to high school seniors of Latino/Hispanic heritage entering higher education. The scholarship is awarded irrespective of immigration status.

The Association has previously awarded approximately 108 individual scholarships, amounting to approximately $66,000.00. Each year we are amazed and humbled by our incredibly deserving youth.
