The HCJ team had a great time volunteering at the 13th annual Heroes vs. Villains Run for Justice 5k organized by the Fairfax Law Foundation.
The proceeds of the event go towards the mission of the Fairfax Law Foundation, which works tirelessly to improve the public’s understanding of access to the justice system, whether that be through law related education for minors, pro bono programs, or raising funds for the Fairfax Public Law Library.

In another round of Meet the Team Monday, we present and introduce our new Associate, Haley S. Heston! Haley recently joined our firm in February of this year. We are so excited for her to represent our clients!
1. If you did not work in law, what would you do?
“I would love to start an animal rescue nonprofit organization or an environmental nonprofit organization.”
2. What was your first job?
“I was a receptionist at a fitness center.”
3. What superpower would you choose?
“That’s tough. I think I would have to pick invisibility or time travel.”
4. What was your favorite class in school?
“In high school, I was in the IT program and loved all those classes. My favorite college course was Politics of the Environment, and for law school my Food Law & Policy Seminar and Family Law class!”
5. Name one thing we would be surprised to learn about you.
“That I’m partially Canadian and love playing Nintendo Switch!”

1) If you did not work in law, what would you do?
“My dream would be to own a pub. Realistically, I’d probably be a social worker.”
2) What was your first job?
“I worked at an actual store that processed and printed photographs taken by actual cameras. Sometimes the photographs that came out of the machine were very surprising for a high school student.”
3) What superpower would you choose?
“To be that fly on the wall...”
4) What was your favorite class in school?
“In law school, it was a tie between insurance law and a class on ERISA plans”
5) Name one thing we would be surprised to learn about you.
“I was born in Japan and did not become a naturalized citizen of the US until I was 5 years old.”

“I had my son at 19 years old. By the time he went to kindergarten, ‘we’ had already attended UGA and Washington & Lee Law School together.

The attorneys and staff of Hicks Crandall Juhl are still ready to help with all family law matters. While we have heeded the advice to work remotely, our office is virtually open during normal business hours. Our telework system allows all attorneys and staff to be available and to continue working to serve our clients, and our office is completely operational.
The Supreme Court of Virginia has suspended most hearings in all Virginia Courts. We are working closely with the Court system to reschedule matters that are affected, and to be ready to serve clients who need immediate relief from the Courts once they reopen.

HCJ attorney Dana Wolfson and friends had a great time last week participating in the Chipping In to End Domestic Violence Golf Tournament hosted by Cooper Ginsberg Gray PLLC and Shelter House. This annual event raises funds for Artemis House, Fairfax County’s only 24-hour emergency shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking. HCJ was proud to be an Eagle Sponsor of the event to help raise funds for this worthy cause!
