•Conducting inventor interviews.
•Preparing patent applications from various forms of invention disclosure materials.
•Filing patent applications in the United States, as well as outside the United States. We have established relationships with counsel in most foreign countries. Patent Prosecution
•Prosecuting patent applications, including reissue and re-examination applications, in the United States, as well as applications outside of the United States.
•Preparing and filing appeal briefs with the United States Patent and Trademark Office's Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Patent Opinions
•Preparing validity, enforceability, and freedom-to-operate opinions relating to various technologies in the electrical and mechanical areas. We work with our clients' personnel to identify information necessary to render quality opinions. Such quality opinions enable our clients to make informed business decisions related to intellectual property issues. We’re proud to share that Jessica A. Schulze, Ph.D., J.D. has both passed the Utah Bar Exam and been named a Women Tech Awards Career Transformation Honoree by Women Tech Council!

Jessica’s path to patent law is grounded in a robust technical background. During her Ph.D., she collaborated with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Caltech, Penn State, and Idaho National Laboratory and ran her own scientific consulting firm before making a deliberate transition from research to intellectual property.

Today, she brings that experience to her patent practice at Harrity & Harrity, working with innovations across AI, semiconductors, advanced materials, software, medical devices, and other complex technologies. She also makes time to mentor other scientists exploring STEM careers and opportunities in patent law.
