Pilot Program Gives Loudoun County Deputies Time to Follow Up With Mental Health Crisis Calls

I was so grateful for the opportunity to speak to Julie Carey with NBC4 on behalf of NAMI Northern Virginia about the new pilot program in Loudoun County. Assigning CIT trained SRO deputies to follow up after a mental health related call allows families a better chance to connect with resources in the community to seek appropriate treatment.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is trying a new approach this summer to some of the most challenging calls for law enforcement — mental health and crisis calls.

New Utah law requires dads to pay prenatal child support

We all know pregnancy looks different for a father than it does for a mother. This means women are making choices about their pregnancy before it becomes a reality for many men. When a birth mother is deciding how to move forward she needs as much information as possible, including and especially the type of support she should anticipate. Many advocate moving to a “pay up” or “shut up” approach where unmarried birth fathers who did not provide prenatal support could not object to an adoption plan made by the birth mother.
