I had a wonderful time this past weekend when I had the pleasure of presenting “Quiet Title Actions in Virginia” for CLE and CE credit at the Virginia Land Title Association’s annual convention in Reston. The VLTA staff and board did an amazing job putting everything together, and it was great to connect with old friends and make new ones. I look forward to next year’s convention in my hometown of Virginia Beach!

My first post is dedicated to a brilliant appellate attorney and mentor, Steve Emmert, who I caught up with at the The Virginia Bar Association’s Appellate Summit yesterday. When I worked with him a decade ago, he helped me create a ten-year plan to reach my goals by the time I’m 40. Fun fact: one of them was to be a named partner and/or shareholder at a law firm. Most importantly, he taught me love the law and persevere to meet my goals.

To my lawyer friends: Steve maintains an appellate blog where he boils down the Supreme Court of Virginia’s published legal opinions into easily digestible summaries written in plain English. I strongly recommend you bookmark his page and read it regularly.
