Where may NJ gun owners with NJ carry permits "carry" outside the home (within NJ)? SHORT LIST: in private vehicles with owner's permission; on private property open to the public with property owner's permission; also apparently while hunting or fishing.
But it is a 3rd Degree crime (up to five years imprisonment) to carry on/in so-called "sensitive spaces." LONG LIST: zoos; parks, playgrounds, recreation areas and beaches; youth sporting events; public libraries; public museums; places that serve alcohol; entertainment facilities (arenas, stadiums, theaters, theme parks, racetracks, etc); casinos; airports, transit hubs & public transportation; within 100 feet of public gatherings; health care facilities and offices; places of worship; correctional facilities & halfway houses; homeless shelters & shelters for domestic violence victims; cannabis dispensaries; movie sets; power plants; courthouses; polling places; gov't buildings; legislative assemblies.
And Federal law has its own prohibitions: federal courthouses; federal buildings; federal prisons; federal cemeteries; military bases; post offices; national parks & forests; Indian reservations; Amtrak trains; ferries to national monuments.
