Illinois Senior Freeze Income Limits

Recent legislation (Senate Bill 642) has been passed to raise the income thresholds for the Senior Freeze Exemption over the next few years to help more seniors on fixed incomes qualify.

Starting in tax year 2026:

• The maximum household income for eligibility will increase from $65,000 to:

1.) $75,000 in 2026
2.) $77,000 in 2027
3.) $79,000 beginning in 2028 and thereafter
