โ˜€๏ธ Happy First Day of Summer & Happy Father's Day! ๐Ÿ‘”

Today we're celebrating the start of a new season and the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who make a lasting impact on our lives and communities.

As summer begins, we look forward to longer days, new opportunities, and time spent with family and friends. And on Father's Day, we recognize the strength, guidance, wisdom, and support that fathers provide every day.

From all of us at MacDonald Illig, we wish you a wonderful Father's Day and a safe, sunny, and successful summer! ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒŠ

Earlier this month, members of the MIJB team and their families volunteered at Presque Isle State Park, helping keep one of our regionโ€™s greatest natural treasures clean and welcoming for everyone. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

This effort is especially meaningful as Lake Erie was recently voted #1 Best Lake by USA TODAY 10Best Readersโ€™ Choice Awards. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ†

Weโ€™re proud to support efforts that preserve the natural beauty of our region and grateful to the volunteers who joined us in keeping our beaches clean and accessible for all.

A recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling is reshaping the conversation around stormwater charges.

The Court determined that a stormwater charge imposed by the Borough of West Chester was a tax rather than a fee, a distinction that could affect municipalities, nonprofits, hospitals, schools, and other tax-exempt property owners.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has issued a significant ruling that could impact businesses operating skill game machines throughout the Commonwealth.

On June 15, 2026, the Court held that so-called "skill game" machines, including Pace-O-Matic (POM) devices commonly found in bars, convenience stores, and similar establishments, qualify as slot machines under the Pennsylvania Gaming Act.

The Court further determined that because these machines are not licensed or authorized under the Act, their operation constitutes unlawful gambling activity subject to enforcement under the Pennsylvania Criminal Code.

While the Court provided a 120-day grace period before its order takes effect, operators without slot machine licenses may be subject to enforcement actions after that period expires unless new legislation is enacted.

The decision also leaves open the possibility of legislative action, with the Court noting that the Pennsylvania General Assembly remains free to address the regulation of skill games.

MacDonald Illig is closely monitoring developments related to this ruling and any proposed skill game legislation.
