Pennsylvania lawmakers are moving forward with a proposal that would eliminate emissions testing requirements in the 25 counties where it’s currently required. Supporters say the testing program has become outdated and unnecessarily expensive for working families, while others argue emissions standards still play an important role in air quality and public health.

The bill has passed the Pennsylvania Senate and now heads to the House for consideration.
