Closing out Hispanic Heritage Month with our Elizabeth seniors! 🎉

Today, I joined Councilwoman Georgette Gonzalez Lugo at the City of Elizabeth NJ - Office On Aging’s Hispanic Heritage Month luncheon at the O’Donnell Dempsey Senior Center. It was wonderful to see our seniors enjoying a delicious lunch, dancing, and celebrating the rich culture and traditions that make our community so vibrant and diverse.

A special thank-you to all the supervisors and employees of the Office on Aging and the Transportation Department for their hard work and dedication in making this celebration a joyful and memorable day for our seniors!

It was a privilege and an honor to join Councilwoman-at-Large Georgette Gonzalez-Lugo and the entire Elizabeth City Council in recognizing Chamo's Hand Carwash and owner Andres Manuel Freites, along with Elizabeth's very own Latin District Association, its board, members, and volunteers, for their tireless relief efforts for Venezuela and Colombia.

Hundreds of families here in Elizabeth have loved ones who were affected by these tragedies, including the earthquakes that displaced thousands of our families in Venezuela and Colombia. Both organizations sprang into action, collecting donations across the city and making an immediate impact. Their compassion and follow-through are a reminder of the strength of our community and of why they have earned this recognition at City Hall.

On behalf of the City of Elizabeth, thank you to both Chamos Hand Car Wash and the Latin District Association for their selflessness and generosity in such a time of need. 🇺🇸🇻🇪🇨🇴

Yesterday, I had the honor of joining Councilman Frank O. Mazza, Mayor Chris Bollwage, John Sacco and his family, and so many friends of the Peterstown community as we laid our annual wreath in front of the Christopher Columbus monument.

We came together to reflect on our history and carry out a tradition. I’m grateful to everyone who gathered today in a spirit of remembrance and unity.

On Sunday, I had the honor and pleasure of meeting former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna, during his visit to Torre Fuerte Church in Elizabeth, NJ.

A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Vientos for the invitation and for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful occasion.
