Adoptions are complex and involve an (in my opinion) unnecessary amount of forms and paperwork. Today I am proud to be present at the completion of a stepparent adoption that began as a termination of parental rights case. Everyone is so happy and excited and the court gives all of the children a teddy bear with a note upon completion of the adoption.

A little humor this morning. Under Family Code Section 7541, the child of a wife cohabiting with her husband, who is not impotent or sterile, is conclusively presumed to be a child of the marriage. Here, Mr. Red has 2 years from today to contest his paternity and seek genetic testing of Baby Green. Mr. Yellow can also seek to establish paternity and parenting time with Baby Green even if Mr. Red and Mrs. Blue patch things up.
