Today we honor all veterans and our very own, Mike Swanson. Mike enlisted in the US Air Force in 1996 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. After basic he was selected to attend the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA for a year and a half to learn Mandarin Chinese. Then he served at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX for six months. He was sent to Hickam AFB in Oahu, HI where he worked in the Air Intelligence Agency, a division of the National Security Administration (NSA), as a Chinese linguist translating top secret Chinese communications. He finished his military career in 2002 as an E5 Staff Sergeant.
In December of 2005 Mike graduated cm laude from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a B.A. in history with a minor in Economics. He earned his J.D. from Saint Louis University in 2009. Mike started his law career working for the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Child Support Division. He was promoted to the Division Supervisor in 2011. In 2012 he started his own private practice with his colleague and they formed Swanson and Sackett, P.C. Mike started Swanson Law Firm, LLC in September 2022 and continues to practice family law representing clients in Madison county and surrounding counties.
