Brenda Golden is citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma and grew up outside of Clearview, Oklahoma on โ€œHarjo Hillโ€. She attended Sequoyah Indian High School, served in the US Air Force and the Oklahoma Air National Guard. She has a Bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) both conferred from the University of Oklahoma. Bren

da graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Brenda has been an advocate and activist for social justice since the 1990's. She has worked to increase public awareness on such issues as Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, Saving Sacred Sites, institutionalized racism, female incarceration in Oklahoma, abolishing celebration of 89er days and the land-run re-enactments in public schools. She has been a source of information in independent media as hostess of Womyns Warrior Talk and Red Town Radio from 2009 to 2016 and writing as the Oklahoma City Native American Examiner from 2008 to 2013. She co-founded the Society to Preserve Indigenous Rights and Indigenous Treaties (S.P.I.R.I.T.) Her professional work experience includes over 15 years in Human Resources and Executive Management and 10 years with the State of Oklahoma. Prior to opening her own law office, she dedicated the last 16 years of her professional career working with tribal governments and native organizations. Brenda is an outspoken activist, advocate and seeker of justice for the people. Congress, the U.S. State Department and written testimony to the U.N. Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues regarding Native American treaty rights and inherent retained rights. Golden has met with several Governors of the State of Oklahoma, the Attorney General and countless members of the Legislature to lobby for human and civil rights for American Indians. Currently Ms. Golden owns and operates Golden Legal Services, PLLC, a sole proprietorship established on April 1, 2016 offering family, divorce, paternity, custody, visitation, guardianships, probates, criminal defense of minor misdemeanors and non-violent felonies, expungements, wills and property. Brenda is licensed to practice in any County District Court, the Eastern and Northern District Federal Courts, the Muscogee Creek Nation District Court, and most tribal courts in Oklahoma.

These submissions will serve as a foundation for shaping recommendations, identifying resource needs, and supporting the development and sustainability of Tribal domestic violence programs. This project also aims to raise broader awareness about the unique experiences of AI/AN victim-survivors.
