Attorney John Lovette started practicing 19 years ago, and one of the first lessons came from his uncle Dan Lovette: on cross examination, be stern with the witness, but never be rude. 💬

There is a real difference. Yelling at someone on the stand tends to make them dig in and stop answering, and it leaves the judge or jury with a bad impression of you. Neither one helps your client.

Courtroom conduct is not just style. The candor and respect an attorney shows the people involved in a case can go a long way toward the outcome. ⚖️

Something went wrong, and the explanation you were given sounded reasonable at the time. It just has not stopped nagging at you since. 🩺

That is a hard place to sit, especially because most bad outcomes are not malpractice. Medicine carries real risk, and people are harmed by things nobody did wrong. But some situations are different, and the line between the two comes down to whether the care fell below the accepted standard and whether that failure is what caused the harm.

Our latest article walks through the signs that deserve a second look, what to do if you are concerned, and one deadline myth that is still circulating years after a court struck it down.

A client who spent ten years in a custody battle recently shared what it meant to have Attorney John Lovette in their corner. ⚖️

"I'm beyond overjoyed that my children are finally back in my custody. Their staff is more than accommodating and compassionate at all stages of the legal process. I would recommend his law firm to anyone looking for a strong and strategic attorney."

Custody matters do not always resolve quickly, and the long ones take a real toll. Having a firm that stays with you through every stage of it makes a difference.

If you are dealing with a custody matter in Cambria County, call the office at (814) 471-7702 so we can help.

Every case is different. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome.

Before you cosign for your child, understand what you are actually signing up for. Attorney Joe Sutton on why cosigning puts you on the hook. 💬

It does not matter whether it is a car loan, a lease, or something as big as student loans. If your child walks away from that obligation for any reason, the lender is not going to let both of you walk away. You are on the line for it.

None of that means never cosign. It means know the risk before you sign, not after. If you have questions about an agreement you are being asked to sign, call the office at (814) 471-7702 so we can get you in touch with someone who can help. ⚖️

If you have a record and you are not eligible for expungement, that is not necessarily where it ends. 💬

Sealing hides a record from public view, but it does not erase it. That distinction matters. If you want a record permanently gone, the path runs through a pardon from the PA Board of Pardons, and expungement follows from there. Sutton & Lovette has worked with the board in Harrisburg on these cases for years.

If you are trying to get past an old record and are not sure which route applies to you, call the office at (814) 471-7702 so we can get you in touch with someone who can help. ⚖️

Get hurt on a job site in Pennsylvania and you are told the same thing within a day or two. File for workers' comp, follow the process, that is how this works. For most injuries that is accurate.

For serious ones it can be only part of the story. Comp protects your employer from being sued, but it does not protect a general contractor, another sub, an equipment manufacturer, a property owner, or a driver who contributed to what happened. A claim against one of them is separate, and it covers pain and suffering and full wage loss, which comp pays nothing toward.

The deadlines do not line up either. Comp gives you three years to file a claim petition. The negligence claim runs on two.

Our new article walks through where these claims come from and why nobody in the comp process is looking for them.

A client who has known Attorney Joe Sutton for nearly 30 years recently came back to the firm for a set of complex deed transfers. Here is what he had to say. ⚖️

"Outstanding, local, worry-free experience and will definitely be going to them again. Joe, John, and their legal staff are top-notch. Reach out without hesitation!"

Real estate work does not feel complicated until it is, and deed transfers are one of those areas where the details matter more than people expect. Working with a local office means you are not chasing an unfamiliar firm for answers.

People get hurt at work around here every single day, and it does not matter what the job is. Attorney Joe Sutton on why workers' comp is not always the end of the story. 💬

Comp does not always cover the full extent of your injuries and damages, and there are times it gets denied outright or comes back short. That does not mean you are out of options.

Sutton & Lovette also works with firms in Pittsburgh that specialize in workplace injury, which means the firm can look at your situation and connect you with the right people.

If you were hurt on the job and it was not your fault, call the office at (814) 471-7702 so we can get you in touch with someone who can help. ⚖️

Back to school season has a way of surfacing custody disputes that stayed quiet all summer. Attorney John Lovette is here for tips on what to do if the other parent is trying to move your child to a different school district. 🎒

If there is a current custody order in place and the other parent enrolls your child somewhere that was never agreed on, that is not something to wait out. The firm can file an emergency petition for special relief and work to get the matter in front of a judge quickly, before your child is pulled from the school they are already in.

The timing matters here more than almost anything else. If you are facing this right now, call the office at (814) 471-7702 so we can get you in touch with someone who can help. ⚖️

Most people have never done this before, and the minutes after a crash are the worst possible time to figure it out. Adrenaline is running, the scene is loud, and decisions get made fast.

Pennsylvania law requires drivers to report a crash in certain situations, and if no officer investigates, that duty shifts to the driver on a five day deadline most people never hear about. The other things that matter later are quieter. Photographs before the scene is cleared. Witness contact information before anyone leaves. A medical visit even when nothing hurts yet, because adrenaline hides a lot and insurers notice gaps.

Our new article covers all of it, including what to do when the other driver's adjuster calls.
