Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the more than 156,000 Allied troops who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, helping turn the tide of World War II and defend the ideals of freedom and democracy.

At Kenneth Barber & Associates, we recognize that the liberties and rights we enjoy today were secured through the bravery of those who served. Their legacy reminds us of the importance of protecting justice, upholding the rule of law, and standing up for what is right.

We remember the heroes of D-Day and offer our gratitude to all who have served our nation.

🌉 In 1937, over 200,000 people laced up their shoes and walked across the brand-new Golden Gate Bridge for its grand opening in San Francisco.

No tolls. No traffic. Just vibes. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Honestly… can you imagine 200,000 people showing up anywhere today just because they can? (Unless there’s free food involved… then maybe 😄)

Today, we pause in observance of Memorial Day.

Our office will be closed as we take time to reflect on the true meaning of this day. Memorial Day traces its roots back to the aftermath of the Civil War, when Americans began honoring fallen soldiers by decorating their graves—a tradition once known as Decoration Day.

Over time, it has become a national day of remembrance for all military members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We are forever grateful to the brave men and women who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, we honor them.

🐍🥫 On This Day in 1931… things got a little… snappy 🥫🐍

Canned rattlesnake meat officially went on sale in Florida. Because apparently someone said, “You know what this snake needs? A shelf life.” 😄

Now here’s where it gets interesting… rumor has it Ken has a slight appreciation for collecting vintage cans of “exotic” food. We’re not saying there’s rattlesnake in the office… but we’re also not not saying that. 👀

As many of you know, Ken proudly plays the bagpipes with the MPBA, and this Monday marked his 26th consecutive year performing for the Yale Graduation ceremonies. 🎓🎶

One of the most unique traditions at the Yale Forest School is the signing of the historic guestbook by each graduating student — a tradition that dates all the way back to the era of Theodore Roosevelt.

The guestbook itself is a remarkable piece of history. It was gifted to the school in 1901 by Mary Eno Pinchot to her son, Gifford Pinchot, founder of the Yale School of the Environment, at the time of the school’s founding.

Here’s Ken signing the legendary guestbook using an incredible quill pen — a moment where history, tradition, and a little bit of bagpipe music all came together. How cool is that?!

✈️ May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart made history—becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

She took off from Newfoundland at 7 p.m. and landed near Londonderry just 13 hours later—proving that bold moves and steady determination can take you incredible distances.

Five years later, she and her navigator Fred Noonan set out on another ambitious journey… one that remains one of history’s greatest mysteries.
