Small win today in Immigration Court 🙌

We successfully got our client’s case administratively closed. This is huge because it pauses removal proceedings and allows us to move forward with the immigration process outside of court.

What this means:
• The immigration judge is no longer actively moving the removal case forward
• No upcoming court hearings
• Case stays with the court, but paused
• We can now focus on immigration relief with USCIS

Next steps for our client:
Step 1: File the I-601A Provisional Waiver
This waiver asks forgiveness for unlawful presence before leaving the U.S. for the consular interview.

Step 2: Once approved → Submit DS-260
This starts consular processing through the National Visa Center.

Step 3: Interview at U.S. Consulate
Client attends interview abroad after waiver approval.

Step 4: Return to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident 🇺🇸

Administrative closure = breathing room + a clear path forward.

Every case is different, but this was an important step in the right direction.

Today I had the opportunity to participate in a career panel at Montbello High School, and it meant so much to be back there after so many years. The school looks amazing after the renovations, and it was great to see the new spaces and the energy from the students.

What stood out to me the most was how engaged the students were. They asked thoughtful questions about our careers, how we got to where we are today, and what it takes to pursue the paths they’re interested in. It’s always inspiring to see young people thinking about their future and the impact they want to have in their communities.

Conversations like these remind me why representation and mentorship matter. If sharing a little bit of my journey helps even one student believe their goals are possible, then it’s always worth it.

A special thank you to Ms. Annalia Acuna and Ms. Xochitl Ramirez for the invitation and for creating spaces like this where students can explore their futures and connect with professionals from their community. It was truly an honor to be there.

📅 A partir del 20 de octubre de 2025, USCIS implementará un nuevo examen de educación cívica para quienes presenten la solicitud de ciudadanía (Formulario N-400).

👉 Si presenta su solicitud antes del 20 de octubre de 2025, tomará la versión actual del examen cívico (versión 2008).
👉 Si presenta su solicitud el 20 de octubre de 2025 o después, tomará la nueva versión 2025 del examen.

🔑 Cambios principales en el nuevo examen cívico:
• Formato oral: El Examen de Educación Cívica de Naturalización 2025 será un examen oral con 20 preguntas, seleccionadas de una lista de 128 preguntas cívicas. Usted debe responder 12 preguntas correctamente para aprobar.

💡 ¿Por qué aplicar ahora?
Si presenta su solicitud antes del 20 de octubre de 2025, tomará la versión más sencilla y familiar del examen (2008). No espere a que el nuevo examen añada más dificultades para los solicitantes.
