It is Court Reporting and Captioning Week 2025! I am so grateful for all the experiences this career has given me.

I learned about this career path when I was in high school. I was working part-time after school at a law firm in my hometown of Spokane, Washington.

The attorney I worked for encouraged me to check out court reporting, and he let me sit in on some depositions at the firm. I was intrigued.

Nearly forty years later, having vast experience in the public and private sectors, I now have my own small agency. I have worked with some of the most brilliant judges and lawyers, and I love being a part of our justice system.

On June 7, 1992, the Prescott Courier in Prescott, Arizona, published an article about stenographers. That’s babyface me on the far right. I have met many smart, interesting people in the last thirty-eight years as a stenographer; and I have learned so much along the way.

Fun fact: The article on the top of the full newspaper page featured my husband and his body shop, Randy’s CARS. We were married one day before these articles were published. My mother-in-law kept this paper all these years. ❤️
