12/16/15 UPDATE: With your help -- including a *huge* boost from the folks helping Spring Valley -- we've more than doubled the amount of food we've got collected! We've also raised close to $500 in cash donations to buy more food!
**THANK YOU** Durham for all of your help so far, and please keep the donations coming! We're continuing collections until *THIS THURSDAY 12/17/15 @ 3:00pm!*
(Yesterday's update below)
12/15/15 UPDATE: In less than 24 hours folks have already brought a bunch of food -- but we still need more! Let's keep the momentum going! :D
(Original post/details below!)
**DURHAM FRIENDS**: We need your help! Our law firm is sponsoring a food drive for one of the classrooms at Eastway Elementary here in Durham, the elementary school up the street from our office (next to the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club where I volunteer). Eastway has two homeless shelters feeding into the school, a huge chunk of its students are on free or reduced meals -- and the Christmas vacation puts a ton of pressure on those families to have adequate food for the kids through the holidays.
We're collecting non-perishable food for *22* children! Cereal, snack bars, canned veggies and meats, peanut butter, cookies, puddings, Jello, chips, rice, Mac and cheese, noodles, trail mix -- if it won't spoil, we want it.
And if you can't donate food, we'll take cash donations as well and use that to go buy more food.
The collection bin is in our building, 311 E Main Street in downtown Durham.
Here's the catch though: we need all this by **THIS THURSDAY** 12/17/15 @ 3:00pm, so we can get everything to the teacher for kids to pick up on Friday!
If you could help spread the word, we'd appreciate it :)
