USPS's job is to deliver the mail. Not determine who gets a ballot.

Democracy doesn't defend itself. We, the people, do.

Today, we filed an amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court to defend mail-in voting and protect the millions of Americans who rely on it, especially Black voters and marginalized communities who have historically faced barriers to the ballot box.

Mail-in voting is safe, secure, and essential. We will not stand by while voter suppression tactics threaten our right to vote.

Happy 96th Birthday to a North Carolina legend — my friend, mentor, and predecessor, H.M. “Mickey” Michaux!

For generations, Mickey has been a civil rights champion, a fierce advocate for public education, and a legislative icon whose service helped shape Durham and our entire state. He opened doors, broke barriers, fought for opportunity, and showed so many of us what courageous public service looks like.

I’m especially grateful for his friendship, his mentorship, and the example he continues to set. And at 96? Still sharp as ever!

Mickey’s legacy isn’t just history — it lives on in the people he inspired, the institutions he strengthened, and the work we continue today to build a better North Carolina for everyone.

Join me in wishing the incomparable H.M. “Mickey” Michaux an incredible 96th birthday! 🎂🎉💙

Happy Birthday, Mickey! Here’s to 96 years of leadership, service, courage, and making a difference.
