🚦 BIG TRAFFIC CHANGES ARE COMING TO DOWNTOWN SCRANTON!
A few years ago, Attorney John Hart attended the Downtown Scranton walkability study presented by nationally recognized city planner Jeff Speck, which looked at ways to make our downtown safer, more walkable, and easier to navigate.
Now, some of those conversations are beginning to take shape on our downtown streets.
Beginning Monday, October 19, the City of Scranton will begin testing a new traffic pattern at 13 downtown intersections, replacing traditional traffic signals with stop-controlled intersections as part of a traffic-signal removal study.
Any change to streets we drive every day can bring some confusion and disruption, especially during the first few weeks. So, we wanted to make it a little easier to understand what’s happening.
We prepared two easy-to-follow graphics:
🔹 An infographic explaining what drivers can expect during the transition
🔹 A map showing exactly where the new traffic patterns will be located
Take a look before your next trip downtown, and please slow down, pay attention to the new signs, and give everyone a little extra time to adjust.
