Honored to have judged the Georgia High School Mock Trial Competition for Atlanta Region 3 at the State Court of Fulton County today. My favorite part was giving trial feedback and encouragement to these amazing students!
My kiddo enjoyed it, but she still called her dad to pick her up after round 2. I think by bringing her I messed up and solidified her decision to NEVER enter the practice of law. 🤦🏾‍♀️ LOL

Got one father custody of both his kids, got a husband’s alimony set at $3,100 single lump sum (wife wanted 2k a month for 3 years), got a grandmother modified visitation rights with her teenage granddaughter, and now I’m headed into a motion hearing where Plaintiff wants a new trial on the $260,000 judgment I won for my client last year. If God be for us…🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Alimony is designed to help equalize the financial playing field for divorcing couples where one spouse has relied upon the other for financial support or to maintain a certain lifestyle for a significant period of time. If certain facts are proven at trial, the spouse who was the primary earner during the marriage may be required to make regular support payments to the other spouse for a period of time after the divorce. There are also defenses one can raise to avoid an award of alimony to their spouse.
