Derek was recently quoted in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, highlighting his testimony as a proponent of Senate Bill 35 – a proposal to formally recognize supported decision-making as a less-restrictive alternative to guardianship of an adult with a developmental disability. August 20 is National Accessible Air Travel Day.
Today, we highlight the need for accessible air travel for people with disabilities. While providing education and recognizing achievements made to assist people with disabilities, the day also encourages everyone to recognize how airplane accommodations are necessary for millions of people with disabilities to travel safely.

Several months ago, we invited our newsletter subscribers who are Ohio adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their family members to participate in a statewide survey regarding their experiences with decision-making and support. The project was led by Jeanne Novak of Bowling Green State University in partnership with the Supported Decision-Making Network of Ohio. The results are now in!
