🚨 URGENT EAD UPDATE 🚨
Effective October 30, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially ended the automatic extension of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for certain renewal applicants.

🔹 If your EAD renewal is filed on or after October 30, you will no longer receive an automatic 180-day extension while your renewal is pending.
🔹 This change impacts many categories — including H-4 spouses and Adjustment of Status applicants.
🔹 Renew early! USCIS allows filing up to 180 days before your current EAD expires. Without an automatic extension, your ability to work may lapse if the new card isn’t approved in time.

💡 Tip for Employers & Applicants:
Start renewal preparations well in advance and track USCIS processing times closely to avoid employment interruptions. Applicants should apply 180 days before their current EAD expires

The updated version will be administered on or after October 20, 2025. The updated Civics Test will consist of 20 oral questions from the list of 128 questions. Answering 12 questions correctly will result in passing the 2025 Naturalization Civics Test. Answering 9 of the 20 questions incorrectly will result in a test failure.
Officers administering the test will stop asking questions once 12 have been answered correctly, or 9 incorrectly.

USCIS UPDATE ON NATURALIZATION REQUIREMENTS:
As of August 15, 2025, the “Good Moral Character” requirement for naturalization has expanded. Officers will now look beyond criminal history to your whole record, including:

⭐ Volunteering & community service
📚 Education & progress
❤️ Family caregiving
💵 Financial responsibility (taxes, steady work)

This gives applicants more ways to show their strengths—but also more room for subjective decisions.

At Nimer Law LLC, we help clients prepare strong evidence and highlight what makes their case compelling. If you’re planning to apply for U.S. citizenship, let’s make sure you’re ready under this new standard.
