Hopefully being taken quite serious by officials. Can't tell you how common it is when I have clients moving here from other parts of the state or country, how shocked they are by our HIGH property taxes!
I'm no politician or economist...but I'd raise the Sin Tax (alcohol, to***co, ma*****na, gambling...etc), to slow the rise of property taxes. If you can spend on these items, you can contribute to the entire state economy by keeping our property taxes lower. It benefits Homeowners and Renters alike. *I would consider increasing the Owner-Occupant tax reduction as well, which saves on homeowners, and may discourage some investors on their rental returns. Yes, this is coming from someone who owns rentals.

Republicans and Democrats believe it's time to take action on property taxes. But what that looks like is far from settled.
