PSA: NEVER SIGN ANYTHING FROM AN INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE TALKING TO A LAWYER. Met with a potential client in an auto accident case. It is important to know that Illinois only requires $25,000.00 in insurance coverage. And many have no insurance at all. That is when your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage kicks in. Check your policy and make sure you have high limits. Otherwise, if you get seriously injured by an underinsured driver, you will not be able to get full compensation for your bills and injuries.

PSA: When looking for an attorney, keep it local. Talk to friends, check out reviews, and find those with a good reputation in the community. There has recently been a flood of commercials in Chicago for personal injury lawyers. Read the fine print, many of these lawyers are NOT EVEN LICENSED IN ILLINOIS. If they take your case, they refer your case out to local attorneys and take a referral fee. They are marketers, not Illinois lawyers.

Unfortunately, many drivers do not have auto insurance or have minimum dollar limits. Many people injured by these drivers think they have no recourse to recover medical bills and lost wages. Just hired by another client who was struck by a driver with no insurance. Just because the at fault driver does not have insurance DOES NOT mean you can't get compensation for your injuries. Most auto policies include "uninsured motorist" coverage which can compensate you. If you have been hit by a driver without insurance, feel free to call me to discuss your options.
