As we continue our Attorney Spotlight series, we are proud to highlight the career of Charles Welch III. While celebrating his professional accomplishments, we also want to acknowledge his four years with Schwartz & Schwartz.

Affectionately known as "Chuck," Mr. Welch is a graduate of both the University of Delaware and the Villanova University JD School of Law. As a Villanova alumnus, he is also a quietly a New York Knicks fan. Please don’t tell him we said that.

As we continue with our Attorney Spotlight series with speak on the phenomenal career of Charles “Chuck” W. Welch III

Chuck was born and raised in Delaware. He is a graduate of William Penn High School, the University of Delaware and the Villanova University School of Law. He has been a member of the Bar of the Delaware Supreme Court since 1985.

Chuck retired as a Judge of the State of Delaware Court of Common Pleas in 2020, after 19 years of dedicated service, and now has joined the law firm of Schwartz & Schwartz, P.A., in Dover. He is a former State Representative and Deputy Attorney General. Chuck has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center and is a member of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association.

Chuck’s primary areas of practice include personal injury, wills, trusts and the probate of estates.

Mr. Stanley earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law. Prior to that, he earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Delaware, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree with double majors in Political Science and Philosophy and double minors in History and Legal Studies.

His professional experience includes serving as a law clerk at Schwartz & Schwartz for two years prior to becoming an attorney, and as a law clerk to Andres De Cos, Esq. in Wilmington, Delaware for two years before that. Additionally, he worked as a Judicial Extern to the Hon. Charles W. Welch, III in the Delaware Court of Common Pleas in Dover, and served as a Legislative Fellow for the House Minority Caucus in the Delaware House of Representatives in 2011.

Outside of his legal career, Joe is a classic car enthusiast who has owned a '79 Corvette, a '67 Mustang, a '70 Mustang, a '67 Barracuda, and a '66 Galaxie. He is also an avid chess player and is frequently involved in local political campaigns.
