⚖️ TRIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: SLAIWA V. CSX INTERMODAL TERMINALS, INC. | 8TH TRIAL OF 2026

Next Monday, October 26, Marko Law attorneys Jon Marko and Alex Kay will begin trial in Wayne County Circuit Court on behalf of our client, Dolor Slaiwa, marking Jon's eighth trial of 2026.

On May 25, 2022, Mr. Slaiwa, a commercial truck driver, picked up a sealed shipping container at CSX Intermodal Terminals' Detroit terminal. His lawsuit alleges that the container was negligently placed on his chassis, causing his truck to roll over during a low-speed turn shortly after leaving the terminal and resulting in serious injuries.

CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc. denies responsibility.
After more than two years of litigation, a jury will now hear the evidence and decide the case.

💰 $1.3 MILLION SETTLEMENT

Marko Law attorneys Alex Kay and Jon Marko secured a $1,300,000 policy limits settlement on behalf of a delivery driver who suffered serious ankle and foot injuries in Wayne County.

As Marko Law principal attorney Jon Marko prepares for his eighth trial of the year, with proceedings just days away in Wayne County Circuit Court, the defense has filed a motion asking the court to place a gag order on Jon, preventing him from making public statements about the case and requiring him to remove related social media posts.

Jon’s position is rooted in a core principle of the American justice system: courtrooms are open to the public. Anyone can walk into a courthouse and see how justice is carried out, and that transparency is what keeps the system accountable.

As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously wrote, “Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.”

⚖️ BACK TO TRIAL! MARKO LAW TAKES ON CSX RAILROAD

Marko Law principal attorney Jon Marko is preparing to head back to trial at the Wayne County Circuit Court, taking on CSX Railroad in a serious personal injury case.

Our client suffered severe injuries after a shipping container was dropped onto his semi-truck, causing it to roll over.

Following a major pretrial hearing before Judge McCarthy, the court struck the defense's witnesses, leaving CSX Railroad preparing for trial without those witnesses or their evidence.

Despite the serious injuries our client sustained, the railroad continues to dispute responsibility.

With trial just a week and a half away, Jon is ready to return to his home court in Wayne County and fight for the justice our client deserves.

⚖️ FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE AT THE MICHIGAN COURT OF APPEALS

Marko Law attorney Michael Turner delivered his first oral argument before the Michigan Court of Appeals in Duby v. Mann Farms LLC, advocating for our client who suffered serious injuries following a tragic incident.

Despite evidence presented on behalf of our client, the trial court granted a directed verdict, taking the decision out of the jury's hands.

At Marko Law, we believe juries play a fundamental role in our justice system. Michael argued that the directed verdict should be overturned so a jury can evaluate the evidence and determine the outcome.

On this week's Road to Trail with Marko Law 🚐

Whether it’s 4:00 P.M. or 4:00 A.M., we show up for our clients. Attorney Gasper Stare recently made the early drive out to Montcalm County Circuit Court for jury selection in a wrongful death case on behalf of the family of Dakota McKuen.

After four hours in a packed courthouse, a jury was seated. Thank you to the jurors for their time and to Judge Schafer for the opportunity to address them.

⚖️ AT THE MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT!

Marko Law lead attorney Jon Marko shares his thoughts after presenting oral arguments before the seven justices of the Michigan Supreme Court.

Following today’s arguments, Jon reflected on the honor of appearing before Michigan’s highest court and the justices’ thoughtful engagement with the case.

With what Jon described as a “hot bench,” the justices asked numerous questions, demonstrating their interest in understanding the issues before them.
