School is back in, and the walk to the bus stop is the most exposed part of a lot of kids' day.
Most Michigan families do not realize that a pedestrian or cyclist struck by a motor vehicle can still claim no-fault PIP benefits: medical care, wage loss, attendant care, mileage. You do not have to own a car. Which insurer pays follows a priority order under the no-fault act, and it is not automatically the driver who hit you.
If someone in your household was hit while walking or riding, do not assume there is no claim.
