So let me get this straightโฆ ๐ค๐ง๐คจ
Samantha Woll, president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, was murdered at her Detroit home. Roughly two weeks later, her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Herbstman called 911 in Kalamazoo and made statements indicating he believed he killed her. Police responded to his hotel parking lot, where BODYCAM captured additional statements about his responsibility for Wollโs death. ๐ฅ๐
Yet Herbstman wasnโt charged. Instead, the Wayne County Prosecutorโs Office prosecuted Michael Jackson-Bolanos, a Black man, while Herbstman testified under immunity.
Herbstman didnโt know Bolanos, never met him and had no firsthand knowledge that Bolanos committed the murder.
So why was immunity necessary? ๐ค
The jury ultimately ACQUITTED Jackson-Bolanos of first-degree murder, convicted him of lying to police and deadlocked on felony murder and home invasion. The remaining charges were later dismissed.
