Update: A federal court in Texas has issued a preliminary injunction on enforcement of FINCEN's beneficial owner reporting just weeks prior to the deadline for filing for many small businesses. FINCEN has not yet issued a response to the ruling in Texas Top Cop Shop, Inc. v. Garland (E.D.Tex., Docket No. 4:24-CV-478, December 3, 2024). For entities who have not yet filed, it seems that there may be some reprieve if filings are not submitted timely. Please stay tuned for more developments.

The Iowa State Bar Association and Foundation sponsored Sesquicentennial Celebration Essay Contest deadline is coming up on Nov. 1. The Foundation will provide two cash awards to high school students in each of Iowa’s 14 judicial districts.

Goodbye and Thank You!

Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the last seven and a half years. I have had the honor and privilege of helping so many of the people of north Missouri. An attorney is also known as a counselor at law; many times that aspect of my occupation was the most rewarding. Helping people through what were often the worst periods of their life. The years were also filled with happy moments because many of my clients and my team are truly special people with hearts of gold.

Thank you to the City of Green City and the City of Milan for welcoming me into your communities. And to the people of Sullivan, Putnam, Linn, Adair, Grundy, Clark, Schuyler, Mercer, and Chariton counties and all of my clients in Missouri and other states, my deepest appreciation for trusting me and making my job a pleasure.

Thank you to my paralegal Tabitha Craigg for your unparalleled passion for our mission; to Sheena Keuhn for being a welcoming face for our clients in Milan; to Laurie McDonald for giving her heart to me and to our business; to Cheryl Leffler for keeping us going through the tough times; and to Janet Sayre for being my rock and my family from the beginning to the end. Clients may either pick up their file or sign a release for immediate destruction of the file.

All current and former clients will be receiving a letter or phone call shortly providing them options for handling their file.

If you are a former client for whom no current work is being done, you have the option to pick up your file from our Green City office or to sign an authorization for us to destroy your file. Please contact the office with your preference and we will let you know when the file is available or send you the authorization to destroy the file for your signature.

If you are a current client for whom work is presently being done and we have not spoken to you yet, we will be in touch this week.
