An Offer in Compromise, or "OIC", is an agreement with the IRS where the IRS agrees to settle your tax debt for less than the balance owed. The IRS has recently published a warning to taxpayers about what they call "OIC Mills." You may have heard radio commercials or seen social media ads by companies promising to settle your tax debt for pennies on the dollar or received direct marketing in the mail offering to settle your tax debt for a specific dollar amount. Watch out for these red flags. No one can predict or estimate your tax settlement without an in depth analysis of your particular tax situation. If you have a large tax debt you cannot pay, an Offer in Compromise may be an option for you. Feel free to reach out to us today for a preliminary assessment to determine if an Offer in Compromise might help you. We have local offices in Des Moines, Iowa and Ft. Myers, Florida.
