"THE" Ohio State University just received a federal trademark registration on the word "THE" used in association with clothing

Even weirder is that Marc Jacobs just had its intent-to-use federal trademark application approved on the word "THE" used in association with clothing as well

It was not an easy road to approval for either one of these applications, but they confirm the importance of perseverance and good quality trademark specimens

Christmas in July (or June in this case)

Vince Vance, of Vince Vance & the Valiants, aka Andy Stone, has sued Maria Carey for copyright infringement, unjust enrichment, and a Lanham Act violation over Carey's song All I Want For Christmas

Although both Stone's and Carey's songs share a title, any other connection seems tenuous at best

We will have to follow this one closely and see if the court sees a stronger connection than I do
