Juneteenth is not just a day to remember freedom delayed. It's a reminder that progress has never been given willingly—it has been demanded, fought for, and defended by generations of people refusing to accept injustice.

The end of slavery was not the end of the struggle. From voting rights to equal access, from fair treatment to equal opportunity, the fight for justice continues.

Today, we honor the courage of those who pushed this country forward and recognize that the work is far from over. Complacency has never created change. Action does.

This Juneteenth, we remember the past, confront the present, and commit to building a future where freedom and equality are more than promises—they are realities for everyone.

A new study suggests remote work may be making it harder for young workers to find jobs and get the mentoring they need to start their careers.

But the answer isn't ending remote work—it's investing in training, apprenticeships, and career development. Too many employers have cut back on developing the next generation of workers while expecting new hires to arrive fully prepared.

Young workers deserve opportunity, mentorship, and a pathway to good-paying jobs—whether work happens in an office, remotely, or somewhere in between.

Remote work can explain 64% of the recent increase in unemployment among young college graduates, according to an analysis from The New York Federal Reserve.

For the second year in a row, Governor Jared Polis has vetoed legislation that would have removed Colorado's outdated and unnecessary second-election requirement for union security agreements. The bill, HB 1005, passed the legislature and was backed by workers and labor advocates who argue that Colorado's unique system creates extra barriers to collective bargaining.

When workers vote to form a union, they've already spoken. Requiring an additional 75% vote before unions can fully negotiate on behalf of all employees stacks the deck against working people and gives corporations more opportunities to delay and weaken worker power. Colorado remains an outlier with this extra hurdle.

Strong unions help workers secure better wages, safer workplaces, stronger benefits, and a real voice on the job. At a time when working families are facing rising costs and economic uncertainty, we should be making it easier—not harder—for workers to organize and bargain collectively.

Colorado workers deserve labor laws that reflect the realities of today's economy, not restrictions from another era. The fight for worker rights isn't over, and neither is the movement for fair treatment, dignity, and a stronger middle class.

House Bill 1005 would have abolished a requirement in the Colorado Labor Peace Act that 75% of workers at a company sign off before unions can negotiate with businesses over union dues.

Even though federal laws protecting workers haven’t changed, the way those laws are enforced is shifting. Recent moves—like pulling back guidance and changing priorities—could make it harder for workers to get support or for employers to know exactly how to comply.

Discrimination remains a real issue in today’s workplaces, but the systems designed to handle it may be evolving in ways that leave more questions than answers.

Colorado passed a bill that raises the overtime threshold for farmworkers from 48 hours to 56 hours a week — and that’s a step in the wrong direction.

Farm work is already one of the most physically demanding and lowest-paid jobs in the state. Asking people to work even longer before they qualify for overtime pay doesn’t support workers — it puts more strain on them.

We understand farmers are facing real economic pressures. But solving that shouldn’t come at the expense of the people doing the hard labor that keeps our food system running.

Fair pay matters. Worker protections matter.
