If you're trapped in an abusive co-parenting dynamic with an antagonistic counter parent, summer probably feels like chaos to you.

Most families face scheduling challenges during the summer, but if you're court ordered to share custody with an abuser, the loss of structure during the summer months becomes the abuser's playground.

The abuser refuses to contribute to the cost of summer activities or camps for the children.

Direct exchanges create more opportunities for abuse.

Vague court orders that fail to address parenting time swaps for summer vacations.

Neglectful parents leave YouTube or video games to babysit the children.

Travel plans are optimized for the abuser's convenience instead of the children's well-being.

Manipulative parents throw healthy routines out the window to score points with the kids, leaving your children exhausted and dysregulated during your parenting time.

The list goes on...

If you're navigating a chaotic summer parenting plan, I see you. You're not alone.

If you're ready to pursue more stability and structure, and you don't know where to start to fill the gaps in your parenting plan, check out episode 207 of the where we discuss strategies to fill the gaps in your parenting plan, and create more peace and stability for you and your children.

If youโ€™re trying to survive a divorce from an abusive or coercively controlling partner, your nervous system has likely been running on high alert โ€” and there are tools that can help.

Join us on June 24th for a free virtual Lunch & Learn with husband and wife therapy practice owners, Corynne and Cameron Kiernes.

They will share some psychoeducation on how the nervous system responds to stress, then guide the group through practicing regulation tools together.

Toward the end, Corynne and Cameron will be available for Q&A if youโ€™d like support with grounding tools for both you and your children during this challenging journey.

โš–๏ธ Special Edition Lunch & Learn โ€” This one is big.

Colorado's HB26-1309 was signed into law on May 27th, 2026 โ€” and it's now the controlling law in Colorado for divorce and custody cases involving abuse.

I'm honored to be joined by Cecily Riney of Skulborstad Legal Group โ€” a family law specialist, victim-survivor, protective parent, and a key contributor to this legislation. Cecily contributed to, lobbied for, and testified in support of this bill, and she's going to walk us through exactly what it means for families in Colorado.

This is a free, special edition session โ€” because this law matters too much to wait.

What we'll cover:
โœ”๏ธ A plain-language breakdown of HB26-1309 โœ”๏ธ Protections for children and abuse survivors in custody cases
โœ”๏ธ What this means for protective parents navigating family court
โœ”๏ธ How the law addresses litigation abuse in domestic violence cases

Money decisions during divorce can feel impossible, especially when you're also navigating legal proceedings, parenting, and everything else that comes with this season of life.

That's exactly why we're bringing in Brianna Beski, CDFAยฎ, as a special guest on our next Lunch & Learn.

Brianna is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst who works alongside attorneys and their clients to bring clarity to the financial side of divorce โ€” asset division, long-term planning, and understanding what your decisions today mean for your financial future.

She'll be sharing the top questions she gets asked as a CDFA, so you can understand the real financial impact of the choices you're facing, not just right now, but through retirement and beyond.

This isn't about pressure. It's about knowledge because when you understand your options, you can make decisions from a grounded place instead of a fearful one.
