Lyda Law Firm is closed today in observance of Juneteenth.
Although the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, freedom for many enslaved people did not come until much later, when word finally arrived in Galveston, TX, on June 19, 1865. This day has come to be known as Juneteenth and serves as a powerful reminder and celebration of Black liberation, resilience, and legacy.
This Juneteenth, we invite you to reflect on our nation’s history, the progress that has been made, and the work that remains to be done in the ongoing fight for justice and equality in America.
