Today is National Lawyer Appreciation Day, and we'd rather spend it appreciating our clients than ourselves.

Deborah Price came to Shafner Injury Law after the first of what would become three separate accidents, each one harder than the last. She stayed because of what she found here, both legal skill and a genuine investment in her outcome every step of the way.

When she talked about working with Alan, she put it simply: "I firmly believe that Alan is extremely trustworthy, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I know without a doubt that Alan knows what he's doing, that he cares, and will do the best of his ability. Alan demands perfection."

We are in this work because of clients like Deborah. Her trust—and the trust of every person who walks through our door during one of the hardest chapters of their life—is something we take seriously every day. Thank you, Deborah. And thank you to every client who has let us show up for you.

Happy National Dog Day from the most important members of the Shafner Injury Law team! 🐾

Meet Beau Shafner – Attitude Adjustment Specialist, Florida native, and genuine television personality. Beau appeared on Animal House with Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald to rave reviews and has since dedicated his career to stress relief and morale management at the firm. He also makes new friends on every walk, which is honestly a better networking record than most attorneys we know.

And then there's Ollie Fuscher – Treat Enthusiast, recovering from some difficult feedback from his vet about portion control. He remains unbothered and optimistic.

We'd love to see your dogs, too. Drop a photo in the comments and tell us their name and their self-appointed job title—every good office dog has one. 🐶

Back-to-school season means school zones are active again across Colorado and Wyoming, and crosswalks are full of kids, parents on bikes, and crossing guards doing their best to keep everyone safe.

It takes about 20 seconds to pass through a school zone. It's worth every one of them. Slow down, put the phone away, and watch for kids who may dart into the street without warning, because that's exactly what kids do.

Summer in Colorado and Wyoming means more people on the road, and unfortunately, more impaired drivers. The NHTSA's Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign runs through the summer for a reason, and it's one we fully support.

If you or someone you love is ever involved in an accident with an impaired driver, what you do in the first few minutes at the scene can have a real impact on the strength of any legal claim that follows. Most people don't think about documentation in that moment, and that's completely understandable. That's exactly why we put together a free guide with simple photo and video tips you can use right from your phone, including a printable checklist small enough to keep in your glove box.

We hope you never need it. But having it ready takes about 30 seconds.

Download it free here: shafnerlaw.com/essential-photo-video-tips-after-an-accident

If you've already been injured by an impaired driver and have questions about your options, we're here — free consultation, no fee unless we win.

July is Drowning Prevention Awareness Month, and for families spending time at pools, lakes, and recreation areas across Colorado and Wyoming this summer, it's a meaningful reminder that water safety depends on more than just good swimming skills.

When a drowning or near-drowning happens because a property owner failed to provide adequate fencing, supervision, safety equipment, or warnings, it’s a tragedy, and it may also be a case of premises liability. Families in that situation often don't realize they have legal options, or they feel too overwhelmed in the aftermath to ask.

If your family has been affected by a water-related accident this summer and you're not sure where to turn, we've put together a free guide that walks you through what to expect after an injury — step by step, in plain language. We're also happy to talk through your situation at no cost or obligation.

Our June newsletter is out, and it’s got a lot of heart.

The centerpiece is Deborah Price's story, a Denver volunteer, grandmother, and self-described "church lady" who navigated three separate accidents over several years, each leaving its mark on a life already filled with purpose and service. Her account of working with Alan and Molly is one of the most honest and generous things a client has ever said about our team, and we're honored she let us share it.

This issue also breaks down subrogation in plain English: what it is, why your health insurer might claim part of your settlement, and what can be done about it. It's one of the most common surprises people encounter after a case resolves, and we'd rather you know about it before it catches you off guard.

We're also spotlighting two organizations doing important work during PTSD Awareness Month and beyond: the Center for Trauma & Resilience in Denver and NAMI Wyoming. The hardest injuries to see are sometimes the hardest to recover from.

Plus, Ollie the dog has strong opinions about his new diet. His vet disagrees. We're staying out of it.
