The O'Sullivan Law Firm

The O'Sullivan Law Firm For over 25 years, our attorneys have been helping injured Coloradans and their families get the justice they deserve. It's free.

We only settle cases for the maximum possible compensation. Call or text us any time at 303-388-5304 to talk to a lawyer. At The O’Sullivan Law Firm, our clients work directly with one attorney from start to finish, whether the case is settled or goes all the way to trial. Clients are never passed off to a paralegal or legal assistant. We develop relationships built on trust and we explain every step of the process to our clients. Our success rate is over 99% with more than 1,500 cases won. We take cases on a contingency fee basis. This means we work for free until we earn a portion of our client's compensation which then cover our costs to win the case. We understand how overwhelming and stressful it can be to navigate the aftermath of an accident and injury. Our dedicated team is here to help you every step of the way. Whether you’ve been involved in a car crash or motorcycle accident or bike accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced any other type of injury due to someone else’s negligence, we are committed to fighting for the compensation you deserve. We bring over 25 years of experience, a deep understanding of personal injury law, and a compassionate approach to every case we handle. It's crucial to hire a law firm that genuinely has your best interests at heart. Unfortunately, not all personal injury lawyers prioritize their clients' well-being. Some may be more interested in pursuing a quicker, less lucrative settlement to maximize their own profits. At The O'Sullivan Law Firm, we stay up-to-date with the latest laws and regulations to ensure that you receive the best possible outcome for your case. If an injury attorney looks at your insurance and the other driver’s insurance to determine the potential value of your case, then they're not doing their job. There's a plethora of sources that may be available to you given the details of your unique case. Again, these can only be discovered by an attorney who is willing to listen and to spend time with you on your case. I will be that attorney for you. We believe that our clients deserve more than just a quick settlement—they deserve justice and full compensation for their injuries and suffering. Trust us to advocate for your rights with integrity, dedication, and a genuine commitment to your recovery. - Scott

Actual good news from Colorado’s roads!

Preliminary CDOT data shows that impaired-driving deaths are down so far in 2026. From January through June, 72 people were killed in crashes involving suspected impairment, compared with 101 during the same period last year.

The summer numbers improved too. During Colorado’s “100 Deadliest Days,” 37 people were killed in crashes involving suspected impairment, down from 82 in 2025.

There’s still a long way to go, but this is meaningful progress.

If you’re drinking or using anything that can impair your driving, make a plan before you head out. Call a ride, use a designated driver, or stay put.

Let’s keep these numbers moving in the right direction.

Colorado now has a statewide framework for how large school zones should be, where previously their boundaries were primarily determined locally.

The law also allows communities to create “school streets” immediately adjacent to school property. These streets can be closed to traffic at certain times. When vehicles are allowed, the maximum speed is 10 mph and drivers must yield to pedestrians, bicyclists and micromobility users.

For drivers, the practical advice is simple: pay attention to the posted signs around schools, especially if you’re driving a familiar route. The boundaries and rules may not be exactly what you remember from last school year.

None of us will ever hear all of the incredible stories of bravery from 9/11, but today, on the 25th anniversary of that tragic day, Scott is honoring his friend Bethany.

Starting today, Waymo is opening its fully driverless ride service to the public in Denver. The rollout will begin gradually across roughly 60 square miles of the city.

It’s pretty remarkable technology. But from our perspective, there’s an equally interesting question: What happens when a car with nobody behind the wheel causes a crash?

Colorado law already accounts for autonomous vehicles, and removing the human driver does not remove responsibility when someone gets hurt. It may just change where we have to look for it.

Welcome to Denver, Waymo. We’ll be watching closely 👀

Colorado is changing the way it talks about collisions on the road. Under a new state law, roughly 90 sections of Colorado law now use “crash” or “incident” instead of “accident.”

It may sound like a small change, but words shape how we think about what happened. A driver may not have intended to hurt someone, but that does not mean the crash was unavoidable.

At The O’Sullivan Law Firm, we’ve been making this distinction for years. Now Colorado law is catching up.

Your car can look as good as new after a crash and still be worth less than it was before.

That loss is called diminished value, and in Colorado, you may be able to recover it from the at-fault driver’s insurance company. The catch? Insurers generally aren’t going to bring it up for you.

We explain how diminished value claims work, which vehicles tend to have the strongest claims, and what to know before settling your property damage claim.

Dog bite claims are rising across the country, but if you’re bitten in Colorado, the law comes with some important fine print.

Colorado is a strict liability state for serious dog bite injuries, but that doesn’t necessarily mean every type of damage is automatically covered.

We break down what the law says, when a dog owner may be responsible, and what to do after a bite.

If you or a loved one has been seriously injured by a dog, call or text The O’Sullivan Law Firm at 303-388-5304 for a free consultation.

Effective Today - Colorado is putting new rideshare safety rules in place for companies like Uber and Lyft.

The changes include stronger background check requirements, faster investigations of serious complaints, new protections against account sharing and imposter drivers, and more safety reporting.

For people injured in a rideshare crash, these rules may also mean more information is available about a driver’s history and how the rideshare company handled potential safety concerns.

A rideshare crash can involve more than just the driver behind the wheel. Understanding the company’s role, its insurance coverage and the records available can make a real difference.

Wildfire smoke can turn a familiar Colorado road into a dangerous one in a matter of minutes.

Reduced visibility, falling debris, frightened wildlife and emergency vehicles all increase the risk of a crash. But difficult conditions do not excuse careless driving. Drivers still have a responsibility to slow down, leave more space and adjust to what is happening around them.

Our latest article covers how to drive safely through wildfire smoke, who may be responsible when a crash occurs and what evidence can help protect your rights.

Colorado’s express lane law is not just about a $75 fine.

When drivers cut across solid white lines to jump in or out of express lanes, they create dangerous, unpredictable moments at highway speeds. That is exactly why Colorado began enforcing this rule in 2025.

And if that illegal weaving causes a crash, the violation may become much more than a ticket. It may become direct evidence of fault in an injury case.

Read more about what this law means for Colorado drivers, and why it matters after a crash at this link:
