On Wednesday, November 19th, Tera Smith had the honor of speaking to the Society of Women Engineers at the Colorado School of Mines. The event drew an impressive audience of approximately 85 attendees, all eager to explore the intersection of engineering and intellectual property.

During her presentation, Tera shared valuable insights on how an engineering degree can open doors to a career in patent law. She highlighted the unique advantage engineers bring to the legal field, particularly in understanding complex technical innovations and protecting them through patents.

The discussion sparked engaging conversations about career paths beyond traditional engineering roles, inspiring attendees to consider how their technical expertise can make a significant impact in the legal and innovation sectors.

After much hard work and perseverance, Kevin's Patent Agent status will officially be upgraded to Patent Attorney! He will attend Colorado's admission ceremony today, October 27th, at the Boettcher Concert Hall, where he will be sworn in and formally admitted to the Colorado Bar. This marks a significant milestone in Kevin’s professional journey, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement. Congratulations, Kevin!

After more than a decade of serving innovators in the region, the USPTO is closing its Denver office, citing cost concerns and staffing reductions. Many in Colorado’s IP community have expressed concern over the decision, highlighting the office’s long-standing contributions to local innovation.
