Today is National Law Day. It was first observed in 1958, proclaimed by President Eisenhower, and established to celebrate America’s freedoms and liberties, enabled by the rule of law - not despotism or tyranny.
I celebrated by studying and learning in Galveston, at the Marriage Dissolution Institute, soaking up another 13 hours of legal education from top notch lawyers in our State.
While sitting on the beach at days’ end pondering the topics and latest case-law, notably including the emerging use of AI in our legal practice, I was reminded of the honor to work in this profession among such stellar colleagues.
I’m grateful for our local attorneys, including our District Attorney’s office, who fight to represent the needs of individuals, families, and our State.
There is much to be grateful for today. The joy and excitement I feel to soon be serving as the 271st District Court Judge keeps hitting me in waves.
