But let’s clear something up — your daily solo Starbucks run usually does NOT qualify as a deduction. ❌

The IRS is pretty strict here, but your coffee can be 50% deductible in situations like:

☕ Meeting with a client, potential client, employee, or vendor to discuss business
✈️ Traveling for business, away from your tax home overnight

🧾 In both cases, you need proper documentation: amount, date, location, and business purpose.

🏡 Si vendiste tu casa (o una propiedad en renta) el año pasado, esto es lo que tu preparador de impuestos va a necesitar:

→ Formulario 1099-S: Reporta el dinero recibido por la venta. Si lo recibiste, es importante incluirlo en tu declaración.
→ HUD Statement o Closing Disclosure: Ayuda a calcular si tuviste ganancia o pérdida en la venta.

Dependiendo del caso, también pueden pedirte información adicional, como:
→ Cuánto tiempo viviste en la propiedad
→ Si fue tu residencia principal

Esto ayuda a determinar si puedes excluir parte de la ganancia y pagar menos impuestos.

Here are 3 things you need to know:

✔️ It’s NOT a bad thing. Filing an extension helps you avoid late filing penalties.

✔️ No explanation needed. You automatically get an extension when you file Form 4868.

💡 Pro tip: E-file it so you have confirmation for your records. 📧

⚠️ Important: An extension only gives you more time to file, not to pay. Your payment is still due by the original deadline — or you may face penalties and interest.

We personally think the possibility of IRS problems is a scary enough reason to file your tax return… but there are actually some good reasons to file, too! 👀

Here are a few:

💰 Claim your refund. The biggest reason to file is to receive any federal or state tax refund you’re owed.

⏳ Don’t miss the deadline to claim it. There’s a statute of limitations — wait too long and your refund could be gone for good.

📊 Refundable credits. You could qualify for credits that put money back in your pocket, but only if you file.

🏡 Proof of income. Tax returns are often required for things like financial aid, mortgages, and other loans. If you plan to apply for a mortgage soon, lenders will likely ask for your most recent tax returns.

Aquí tienes una guía general:

→ Propietario único: Formulario 1040 + Schedule C
→ LLC de un solo miembro: Formulario 1040 + Schedule C*
→ LLC con varios miembros: Formulario 1065 + Schedule K-1*
→ Sociedad (Partnership): Formulario 1065 + Schedule K-1*
→ Corporación S: Formulario 1120-S + Schedule K-1
→ Corporación C: Formulario 1120

*A menos que hayas elegido tributar como Corporación S, en cuyo caso deberás presentar Formulario 1120-S y Schedule K-1.
