My beloved Dad’s former law partner, Frank Gilliam, wrote these words in a card to me when I graduated law school. I use them in almost every trial:
“Seeming elusive, justice is
Allegedly wanted,
Vocally vaunted,
And sometimes daunted,
Yet to the pure at heart, justice is pure and simple . . . Pure and simple . . . Pure and simple.”
I do not post often on my legal work. But I am very blessed to have my Dad and many wonderful mentors as I have been able to help many injured people in serious need, including a record result in a wrongful death case.
I am pleased to have obtained a recent exceptional settlement for a young man in a personal injury case just before trial. In a judicial system unfortunately money is the only justice that is available. You can’t undo the past, and you can’t make pain go away. Yet where money is the only justice available, it’s very rewarding to have delivered a large amount of money for my deserving and happy client. In a difficult situation it was a good result, “pure and simple”.
For this today, I am grateful. More to come!
