Don't shoot the messenger! Second installment Cook County Government property tax bills are ready, will be mailed September 1, 2026, and they are up again for most homeowners. According to the Treasurer: "...governments need to control spending and people need to get out and vote." You can see your bill online immediately at the Cook County Treasurer's Office website. If you appealed last year and obtained an assessment reduction, it will be reflected in this bill. Landlords will again likely just pass these increases through to renters. While it is too late to appeal this current bill, you can still appeal for 2026.
