I’m a Defense Base Act Lawyer and U.S. Army Ranger Veteran (3rd Ranger Battalion)—here’s what contractors in Kuwait, many of whom are trapped in Kuwait, need to know right now.

Recent drone and missile attacks have put contractors in Kuwait in dangerous, high-stress conditions. If you’re experiencing anxiety, sleep problems, hypervigilance, or emotional numbness, these may be signs of PTSD, and they can form the basis of a valid Defense Base Act (DBA) claim.

Here’s what you should be doing right now:
• Get evaluated and treated by a qualified psychiatric doctor to help you with your symptoms
• Make sure your condition is documented and tied to your work environment
• Notify your employer and preserve emails, reports, and evidence of attacks is permissible
• Understand that DBA insurance companies often fight these claims, so proper documentation is important.

I also suggest printing up your pay slips as far back as you can go.

Psychological injuries are real, serious, and covered under the Defense Base Act. But timing, documentation, and the right medical support can make or break your case.

Taking the right steps now can protect both your health and your rights.

Call DBA lawyer & Army Ranger Veteran Tim Nies about Defense Base Act (DBA) Claims for Contractors in Kuwait: What to Do If You’re Experiencing PTSD Symptoms After Iranian Drone and Missile Attacks

My name is Tim Nies. I am a Defense Base Act (DBA) lawyer and a Veteran of the U.S. Army’s Third Ranger Battalion, and I recently wrote an article addressing an issue that many government contractors are facing right now in the Middle East.

Recently, U.S. bases and installations across the region, including locations in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, have been targeted by missiles, rockets, and drones. Civilian contractors working on these bases are often exposed to the same dangers and traumatic events as military personnel.

Many contractors experience Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after these attacks or after repeated bunker alarms, explosions, and the constant threat of incoming strikes. Under the Defense Base Act (DBA), psychiatric injuries such as PTSD can be compensable under the Defense Base Act.

In my new article, I explain:

• When PTSD after missile or drone attacks may qualify for a Defense Base Act claim
• Why contractors do not need a physical injury to pursue benefits
• The importance of notifying your employer, generally within 30 days of learning the condition is work-related
• Steps contractors should take to document attacks, preserve wage records, and seek medical evaluation
• What benefits may be available, including psychiatric treatment and disability compensation

For contractors working overseas in high-threat environments, understanding your rights under the Defense Base Act is critical. Many workers do not realize that psychological injuries from combat-zone conditions may still be covered under federal law.

If you or someone you know is a contractor experiencing PTSD symptoms after missile, rocket, or drone attacks overseas, I encourage you to read the full article.

Recent attacks by Iran on U.S. military bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Bahrain have placed civilian contractors directly in harm’s way. If you were present during these attacks and are now experiencing physical symptoms or psychological trauma, it’s important to understand your rights under the Defense Base Act (DBA). The DBA provides compensation for both physical injuries and psychiatric conditions such as PTSD, but timely action, proper documentation, and knowledgeable representation matter. In the article below, I break down what is covered, how the DBA claim process works, and essential steps you should take to protect your health and your legal rights.

Injured While Serving Our Country in Syria?

I am a DBA claim lawyer and Army Ranger Veteran, having served in the 3rd Ranger Battalion. I have your six.

Civilian contractors face immense danger in hostile environments, such as Syria. Just yesterday, two soldiers and a civilian linguist were killed during an ambush in Syria. When injuries happen, whether physical trauma, orthopedic injuries such as herniated discs, shoulder tears, head injuries, etc.), or PTSD, the complex world of the Defense Base Act (DBA) can feel like another battle.

As a U.S. Army Ranger veteran and injury attorney since 2001, I fight for those who serve under U.S. government contracts overseas. I understand how DBA insurance companies litigate DBA claims.

As a DBA attorney, I am dedicated to getting you the full compensation and medical benefits you deserve, nationwide.

I am a DBA attorney and Army Ranger Veteran of the 3rd Ranger Battalion.

These days, I go to battle for my injured clients, making sure they understand their rights under the Defense Base Act and get the benefits they’re owed.

I recently put together a clear, easy-to-follow guide on DBA Compensation Benefits. If you or a loved one was injured while working overseas, this article breaks down the essentials: how your disability payments are calculated, when benefits must start, what “suitable alternative employment” really means, and the major differences between scheduled and unscheduled injuries. I also explain why DBA lawyers do not take a percentage of your weekly checks or settlement, your benefits stay yours.

Most importantly, this DBA article includes practical steps you should take right away to protect your claim, especially before leaving the overseas post.

If you're navigating a DBA injury, don’t go it alone. I’m here for my clients day or night, and I’ll fight to make sure they’re treated fairly every step of the way.

✅ If you’re an overseas contractor injured on the job and facing treatment delays or denials under the Defense Base Act, this article explains how I help contractors secure the necessary medical care for spine injuries.

🔍 Spine trauma (neck, mid-back, or lower back) often stems from workplace risks like heavy lifting, falls, repetitive stress or vibration. These injuries can be severe and require advanced treatments: injections, surgeries, spinal stimulators, etc.

💼 Under the DBA, you are entitled to “all reasonable and necessary” care related to the injury, yet many DBA insurance carriers try to delay or deny such care by citing unrelated „expert” opinions.

🧑‍⚖️ That’s where early legal support makes a difference: choosing the right spine specialist, preserving evidence, protecting your rights to treatment and selection of doctor, and being ready to challenge insurance tactics.

📞 If you or someone you know is dealing with a spine injury overseas and facing pushback, it’s smart to get in touch with a DBA lawyer the sooner the better.
