If you bought a house this year, especially if you do not have a mortgage, check for the property tax bill. Most county tax commissioners in Georgia post the bills online. The tax bills often get mailed to the previous owner and you don’t want to have a delinquent property tax bill.

Most counties in the Atlanta metro area send out their tax assessments in June. The assessment notice is not the tax bill, but will give you a good idea of what your property taxes will be this year. Property owners can appeal the assigned value if they think it is higher than what it should be. Make sure you pay attention to the deadline.
