Why am I calling the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Field Office in Glenwood Springs Colorado and being outsourced to Marion Indiana? I waited on hold 1 hour to be told that the matter was out of the region so I could not be assisted. I pressed harder and asked If an email could be sent to the Colorado Field Office. I was told a message would be sent detailing that we had not been paid our attorney fees. I asked for the email address and was told it was not for the public. I said I was an attorney and have a list of the
General Inquiry email addresses for each Field Office in Georgia.

I got off the call without an email address. Our very capable Legal Assistant, Melanie, said she could figure out the email address.
The Law Office of Kathleen M Flynn, LLC received a fully favorable decision in January 2025 from the Denver, Colorado Office of Hearing Operations (OHO). In February 2025, Notice of Awards for SSI and DIB (also called SSDI) were issued explaining how much our client would be awarded monthly, the amount of the backpay, and the attorney fee.

A year and a half later, our disability law firm still has not been paid our SSI or DIB attorney fees. I next called a Representative Call Center line for the DIB (SSDI) portion of the attorney fee. I have waited up to 30 minutes for a live person. Today, someone picked up within 10 minutes and said he would be releasing our attorney fees. To add insult to injury, we are charged a user fee of $123 capped at 6 percent for the privilege of having the govt direct deposit our fee. This is after we act as a collection agent and can't bill for the time.

It may take years to prevail in a social security disability case since the Covid-19 pandemic. SSA’s Disability Adjudication Services (DAS) has record delays at the initial and reconsideration levels of in Georgia. It takes up to 2 years just to be assigned to an Adjudicator when a case could be decided in 6 months pre Covid-19 pandemic.

Free Passport and Gender-Affirming Name Change Clinic

The clinic is open to all trans or gender-expansive young adults who live in Georgia ages 18-26.

The clinic will take place on June 26, from 1pm - 5pm at a law firm a few minutes walk from Arts Center MARTA Station.

THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION NEEDS TO UPDATE THE WEBSITE TO EXPLAIN WHEN WALKINS ARE ACCEPTABLE AT A FIELD OFFICE www.ssa.org We have a homeless client whose SSI application was approved at the initial level at the Social Security Administration’s Disability Adjudication Services (DAS). www.gvs.georgia.gov/social-security-services In order to receive SSI, you must do a financial interview, also called a PERC interview, with the SSA field office that took your initial claim.
Our client did an Artificial Intelligence (AI) search to ask if he could go to the Atlanta Downtown Field Office for a PERC interview to get his SSI benefits started. AI said that the Atlanta Downtown Field

Office does not allow a person to walk into the office. Instead, an appointment has to be made online. If you go to the SSA’s website and scroll down to the bottom to the left hand side, it reads: Find an office. You then enter your zip code. In this instance, it takes you to the Atlanta downtown field office where you can pick an appointment time. However, the SSA website does not disclose that In person appointments must be granted to those with hardship or a critical illness. Examples of hardship include homelessness, no phone, a missed prior appointment, eviction or foreclosure, etc.

The client came to the Law Offices of Kathleen M Flynn, LLC for help scheduling his PERC. He had used up the minutes on his cell phone trying to reach someone at the Atlanta downtown Field Office. We called the Atlanta downtown Field Office that had a 70 minute Hold time! www.ssa.gov/locator Fortunately, the Georgia Area Director’s Office, which oversees the Field Offices, found someone to do this homeless client’s PERC interview over the phone while he was in our disability law firm.

Are the Social Security Administration's (SSA) Payment Center's understaffed? www.ssa.gov What are NOSSCR and NADR doing to represent us? www.nadr.org www.nosscr.org For 20 plus years, I could call the 410 lines and leave voicemails about attorney fee payments that are a year or older. Now, I get full voicemail mailbox! The 215 area code line never had voicemail nor a human to answer.

We are told to call an 800 number where we wait on hold for one hour or longer. The SSA employee, who answers the phone, cannot help us. I have been told to call the Field Office which sends a message to the payment center. That can be up to an hour wait time. The call may roll over to a different Field office, but all they can do is take a message. I have to ask the 800 line staff to send a message to the Field Office which they don't want to do.
