Velez Legal Services, LLC - Maryland Special Education Attorney

Velez Legal Services, LLC - Maryland Special Education Attorney Attorney Wendy Velez is licensed to practice only in the state of Maryland. We provide legal representation in the state of Maryland only. We can help.

She is now focusing on family law mediation as well as professional training in the state of Florida. Velez Legal Services, LLC is a boutique firm focusing on education issues, juvenile justice, and family law. We focus solely on Family Law Mediation and Professional Training in the state of Florida. Attorney Wendy Velez is experienced in advocating for children and parents as a former special edu

cation teacher. Caring for a child with special needs while working with school officials and sorting through the IEP process to ensure appropriate education services can be daunting. Writing, reviewing, and interpreting Individual Education Plans requires detailed attention and understanding of the educational and legal processes. Your advocate can assist you in understanding the legal rights to which your child is entitled, the responsibilities of the school system to provide an appropriate education, and how best to obtain all the services your child needs to grow and learn. This doesn't always mean legal or court action. Rather, simply having an attorney by your side at meetings, appeals, hearings, etc. can offer you support and empowerment. However, we are prepared to represent you and your child throughout any and all court procedures. We also offer services to represent minors in school related disciplinary actions such as suspension and expulsion, as well as criminal procedures in the juvenile justice system. Our philosophy is that all children are precious and need the guidance and support of adults. Children deserve to be treated with respect and integrity even, and especially, when they make mistakes. As a family law practice, while we handle a variety of domestic cases, we focus on child-related issues such as custody, visitation and child support. Contact us today for a free consultation to discuss your options and how we may be of service.

Hello all. I am very pleased to announce that I have joined LaFayette Law Office. We are a small family law firm that also handles wills and estates, minor criminal cases, as well as other general practice cases. I am excited to be able to focus a great deal of my time on special education and children's issues. Velez Legal Services will be put into hibernation, but my philosophy and goals remain strongly intact. Our number is 410-535-0585. Do keep me in mind if you come across special needs kids who need assistance.

The first marking period is over, so look for those report cards. This is a time to pay attention for those areas in which your child may be having trouble. Listen to your child and communicate with the teachers.

Now that a new school year is beginning, it is time to make sure your child's teachers are well informed about his or her special needs. Call, email, or write a note to touch base with the teachers about your child's IEP.
