It's wedding season, and many couples are asking themselves if they should have a prenup. The short answer is "yes probably," but here's a pretty good article that you might want to read if you or someone you know is getting married soon.

If you're already married, it's not to late because you can still do a postnup and accomplish many (but not all) of the same things.

TLDR: A prenup gives peace of mind, greatly simplifies and reduces cost in the event of divorce, and it reinforces the reasons you're together in the first place.

If you are interested in exploring whether a prenup is right for you, send me a message.

Prenups and postnups are an important part of protecting your money and finances. Here's 3 experts' advice to think about well before your marriage.

During the pandemic, many people asked me if divorce rates were spiking. I believe they expected a "yes," but my observation was just the opposite. I've always felt that people are more likely to divorce when times are good and they feel they can afford to make it on their own. Meanwhile, when times aren't so good, people lack the confidence to end a marriage that they've come to depend on in a variety of ways, some healthier than others.

This article confirms my observation that Covid made people in the US *less* likely to divorce.

The number of Americans getting divorced plummeted last year, while the marriage rate also dropped precipitously as thousands of weddings were postponed or canceled, according to a new study.

When mom and dad legally separate and move into separate homes, it’s common for one parent to be tempted to move out-of-state. Often times, he/she wants to bring the kids along, understandably. This happens for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the relocating spouse wants to live near family members ....

One of the most common issues I see. Do Dads get a fair shake in custody cases? Should they get equal time?

Years ago, the concept of Mr. Mom - a dad raising the kids - was a novelty, a punch line and certainly not the norm. Today, with about half of all marriages ending in divorce and parenting roles becom

Covid is taking a toll on the country in many ways. Aside from the politics of masks and closures, it's also beginning to impact divorce rates. Here's an interesting statistic on how likely you are to get divorced when you marry at a given age:

"One study from the Institute for Family Studies, affectionately nicknamed the "Goldilocks theory of marriage," looked at how age impacts divorce. It revealed that tying the knot too early or too late can put your marriage at risk, but getting married sometime in your late 20s or early 30s will increase your odds of a successful marriage. The study was broken into five different age groups. Those married under the age of twenty had a higher risk for divorce, at around 38%. The 20-24 age range showed a 27% divorce rate, while ages 25-29 and 30-34 had a divorce rate of 14% and 10% respectively. Those who were married over the age of 35 had a 17% divorce rate."

My advice: Consider taking a bike ride or going for a run. Got a dog? He could probably use a walk. Time together is good, but perhaps there exists *too much of a good thing.*

Officials believe the sharp increase of divorce applications around the country could be caused by the fact that partners have spent too much time in close quarters during self-isolation.
