If you are 65 or over, you are probably receiving Medicare health benefits. Or, maybe you have a family member receiving Medicare.

If you receive Medicare benefits, this is essential information for you.

MEDICARE A pays for hospital, recovery care in skilled nursing facilities, and a few other things.

MEDICARE B is generally for medically necessary doctor's services and other items.

MEDICARE D covers prescriptions.

THIS IS NOW MEDICARE'S OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD, from OCTOBER 15th THROUGH DECEMBER 7th.

Here is what you should consider:

1. Call your City or Town Council on Aging.
2. Make an appointment to visit a S.H.I.N.E. Counselor. It's FREE!
3. Bring your prescription bottles with you to the appointment.
4. They will evaluate your current plan and make helpful recommendations. Stay with your current plan or change to a different company.

People change every year - their health, their medical conditions, and sometimes their prescriptions. You might be able to get better service or even save money.
